Residents of Jakande Housing Estate, Eti-Osa, Lagos Island, have bemoaned the effect of flooding caused by heavy rains.
Eko Trust reports that the area, last Friday, experienced a downpour which started in the early hours of the day and lasted about four hours.

The rain prevented residents, especially Muslims, from performing the early morning prayers, it was learnt.
A politician in the area, Hon Kazeem Olarenwaju Ganiyu, who mobilised some residents to clear blocked drains, told our correspondent that the Community Development Association (CDA) had been trying to avert the horrible situation by making the weekly environmental sanitation compulsory for the residents, especially owners of shops erected on the edges of the drainage system.
Another resident, Tajudeen Amidu, said flooding had was an annual challenge in the estate.
