Scientists across the country have been urged to focus their research on genetics.
Professor Omotoye Olorode of University of Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, who made the call at a seminar in the Faculty of Science, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, said there was need for scientists to uncover a number of genetic mysteries.
Olorode explained that “all knowledge is based on prior knowledge and making prior knowledge less available, innovation is impeded.”
Olorode, from the Department Plant Science and Applied Zoology, emphasised the need for young scientists to think globally, act nationally and locally on genetics research, adding that there were things whose knowledge will contribute immensely to the global and national intellectual heritage in biology and genetics.
