Rerun: Kaduna restricts movement in 8 LGAs

Kaduna State Police Command has restricted movement of vehicles in eight local government areas of the state where rerun elections will be held on Saturday.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Mansur Hassan, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
He listed the affected LGAs to include Chikun, Igabi, Kachia, Kudan, Kaduna South, Kagarko, and Kauru
He explained that to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise, the state police command had intensified security measures in the designated LGAs.
“A complete restriction of movement will be enforced from midnight on 3rd February, 2024, to 05:00pm. However, essential personnel like INEC Staff, Election Observers, Medical Personnel, and accredited media are exempted from this restriction in the above mentioned areas,” he said.
He also stated that the CP Ali Audu Dabigi, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to ensuring a successful election and urged the public, especially the political class and voters, to cooperate with law enforcement agencies for a peaceful electoral process.
He cautioned against unauthorised presence at RAC centres, polling units, and collation centres, emphasizing that individuals with intent to constitute nuisance would  face arrest and prosecution.
