The House of Representatives Wednesday urged the government to commit more funds to the Federal Fire Service (FFS) and provide fire service stations in all the 774 local government areas of the federation to meet current challenges in combating fire outbreaks.
This followed the adoption of a motion by Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson.
The House urged the FFS and other stakeholders in disaster management to intensify advocacy in the sector.
It asked the National Emergency Management Agency to conduct sensitization campaigns to local government areas on the importance of setting up, funding and equipping their own emergency management agencies in order to localize disaster risk management practices in local communities.
In another development, the House mandated its Committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters to investigate the alleged issuance of fake vehicle insurance certificates to motorists in the country.
This was sequel to the adoption of a motion by Oluyemi Adewale Taiwo.
