Reps urge army, police to tackle growing insecurity in Kebbi

The House of Representatives has called on the Nigerian Army, police and other security agencies to tackle increasing insecurity in Aleiro, Gwandu, Jega Federal Constituency of Kebbi State.

The call followed the adoption of a motion by Mansur Musa at the plenary on Tuesday.

The lawmaker while presenting the motion said the growing kidnapping, cattle rustling and organised crime in the constituency was alarming.

He said, “The situation has created tension, fear and prejudice in the minds of the people as an uncountable number of them have fled their homes for fear of being attacked, leaving their means of livelihood.

“The incessant attacks on the people, especially on the roads, have adversely affected socio-economic activities in the area making the movement of goods and services to the market difficult”.

The House mandated its committees on Army, Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence to ensure compliance.
