The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has charged the House ad hoc committee on Welfare to complete its task of allocating seats and offices to 360 lawmakers before the House resumes plenary on 2 July, 2019.
The Speaker, who stated this in Abuja on Monday during the official inauguration of four ad hoc committees, added that seats in the chamber must be allocated to lawmakers according to their ranks and offices.
“You must ensure that you complete your major task of offices and seats allocations to lawmakers before the resumption of plenary sessions on July 2.
“Your work appears simple, but it’s tough, as you have to ensure that lawmakers are allocated seats in the chamber according to ranks,” Gbajabiamila charged the ad hoc committee on welfare chaired by Wale Raji (APC, Lagos).
The Speaker, who said it was possible for the ad hoc welfare committee to transmute to a standing House services committee, however enjoined the members to strive to deliver on their mandates.
Meanwhile, the three other ad hoc committee on media, selection and ethics, have pledged to work in synergy in line with legislative agenda of the 9th Assembly.
Julius Ihonvbere (APC, Edo), who addressed newsmen after the inauguration, promised that the lawmakers would swing into action immediately to actualize the main objective for which they were set up.
