Reps shelve sitting over lawmaker’s death

The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, postponed its plenary over the death of Temitope Olatoye (ADP, Oyo), who was assassinated last week in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Speaker Yakubu Dogara, who moved for the postponement and a minute silence on the floor of the House, also prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased lawmaker.

He added that the House would resume full legislative activities tomorrow (Wednesday) during which the lawmakers would pay last tributes to the late Olatoye, also known as “Sugar.”

“As a tradition, we are postponing sitting today until tomorrow in honour of one of our members, who died on Saturday,” Dogara said.

Daily Trust recalls that the House just resumed from a two-week election recess, which enabled the members to participate in the 2019 general election.
