A House of Representatives panel yesterday queried the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) over the disbursement of N1.4 billion loans.
The House Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said the way the money was disbursed to beneficiaries of NDE’s skills acquisition programmes from inception to date, was not satisfactory and demanded full explanation.
The deputy chairman of the committee, Ibrahim Baba (APC, Bauchi), who issued the query; said NDE has seven queries from the Auditor General of the Federation’s report for the year ended 2013.
The committee asked NDE Director General, Nasiru Ladan Mohammed, to furnish it with the names and certificates of all the beneficiaries as well as the agency’s audited report from 1987, when it was established, to 2015.
However, the DG said the loan was disbursed by his predecessor and that he had availed the committee all documents requested from him.
The lawmakers adjourned the sitting to Monday for the DG to get more information on the matter before his re-appearance.
