The House of Representatives on Tuesday passed for second reading, a bill to amend the North-East Development Commission Act 2017.
The bill was sponsored by Mansur Manu Soro (APC, Bauchi), Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim (APC, Yobe) and 47 others.

Soro said the bill sought to ensure an effective discharge of the responsibilities of the commission.
He said: “This bill seeks to expand the financial provisions of the North-East Development Commission to further align the North-East Development Commission (Establishment) Act 2017 to the commission’s mandate.
“The bill also aims at deepening the impact of the commission on the lives of every resident of member states through strategic capital development across the critical sector of the economy.
The bill was referred to the House Committee on North East Development Commission.
