A House of Representatives ad-hoc panel has asked the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to halts plans to sack some aggrieved staff.

The panel also recommended that no aggrieved staff should be castigated, victimized or humiliated in any manner for writing petition against a promotion exercise conducted by the management of the council sometime in 2015.

In its recommendations to the House, the panel, chaired by Aliyu Hamman-Pategi (APC, Kwara) also said all staff due for promotion in the council should be promoted with effect from the date of their due promotion.

It also said that one Mrs Adeyemi should be fully reinstated in accordance with the earlier ministry’s instruction and properly placed accordingly.

Similarly, the recommendations contained in the panel’s report obtained by Daily Trust said the query issued to one Tijjani Zakari should be withdrawn and his due promotion be implemented accordingly.

In addition, the committee said all previous resolutions of the House concerning the matter should be fully adhered to by the NEPC management.

The panel also said in its report that it reached an agreement with the NEPC management to the effect that the council would abide by resolutions of the House on the matter as contained in the report, as well as fully implement the outcome. The House is expected to adopt the recommendations later this month.

Daily Trust had last year exclusively reported how promotion scandal rocked NEPC, following an exercise to elevate directors, deputy directors and assistant directors.

Some staff of the council had accused the Executive Director of the council, Olusegun Awolowo, of bias and promoting staff from his ethnicity, especially those in the directorate cadre.
