Reps not averse to constructive criticism – Ihedioha

Speaking at a meeting with South-East/South-South professionals in Abuja, Ihedioha said it is only constructive criticisms that would ensure good legislation.
He said as parliamentarians they would not accept anything short of constructive engagement. He enjoined the professionals not to engage in uninformed criticism of the legislature because as members of the professions and businesses, they have access to the lawmakers with whom they can engage and make informed inputs to the policy process in the legislature.
“You should engage the parliament on issues. We’re a House for the people. We challenge you to work better with the parliament,” he said.
Ihedioha also assured the regional professionals of the lawmakers’ support to their activities, noting  that the House also adopted zonal public hearings on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) given the critical nature of the proposed legislation. Earlier, president of the group Emeka Ugwu-Oju said their mission was to solicit the lawmakers’ support on their agenda to develop the economies of their regions.
