The Gombe State Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Aishatu MB Ahmad, has defeated her uncle and serving member of the House of Representatives, Sama’ila Mu’azu Hassan to emerge flag bearer of the PDP for Akko federal constituency.
She clinched the ticket after beating her uncle, Mu’azu Hassan and three other contestants including the serving chairman of Akko LGA, Adamu Jani Bello and Yahaya Saidu Kumo, son of Atiku Abubakar’s campaign coordinator, Senator Saidu Umar Kumo, in a keenly contested race.
Aishatu scored 83 votes; Jani Bello 6 got votes while her uncle and Yahaya Saidu Kumo failed to get any votes.
However, after the election results were announced, Mu’azu Hassan went to radio stations and announced his withdrawal from the race.
In her acceptance speech, Aisha pledged to provide a good representation to the constituency if she emerge winner at the general elections.
