Reps Caucus congratulates Lalong over Honorary Doctorate conferment

A House of Representatives caucus, the Nationalists Forum, has hailed Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State over his conferment of an honorary doctorate by the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai, Niger State.

In a congratulatory message signed by its convener, Chief Philip Agbese, the lawmakers-elect said the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum is deserving of the honour owing to his goodwill and immense contributions to the peace and progress of this nation.

“We are proud of your accomplishments in eight years as Governor of Plateau State, anchoring your administration on peace, security, good governance, infrastructural development, and sustainable economic rebirth.

“The Plateau has witnessed an unprecedented infrastructural facelift and enhanced unity and progress under your Rescue Administration,” the members said.

“As chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, you have continually pushed for the interests of the North. However, as a pioneering statesman, patriot, and nationalist, you championed the causes of democracy, equality, justice, unity, human rights, civil society, and equal opportunities for all Nigerians.

“Many who have followed your humble beginnings wouldn’t be surprised by this feat. You are proof of hard work, resilience, grit, and courage. Your incredible track record as a result-oriented and performance-driven leader, one with a penchant for excellence, integrity, and accountability has given us much hope that the Nigeria of our dreams is possible.

“Your Excellency, you’ve inspired all of us not only to dream but also to work hard to achieve them. You never took pride in your achievements but it is time to feel proud.”

The Reps members, however, expressed optimism that this award will spur the governor to do more for the benefit of Nigeria and humanity.
