The resolution of the House followed the adoption of a motion of urgent national importance by Rep Bello Hassan Shinkafi.

Moving his motion, Shinkafi said as a result “the painful economic situation prevailing in the country, many families have been constrained from registering their wards, by February 26 deadline for registration set by JAMB.

He said without extension of the registration, many candidates will not be able to register and participate in the exercise which means there will not be a wider coverage and participation in this year’s UTME in Nigeria;

The lawmaker said JAMB’s quick response to the call for the extension of time by two weeks will encourage parents of these candidates to register their children.

The motion was unanimously adopted when it was put to voice vote by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.
