A member of the House of Representatives, Rep A’isha Jibril Dukku, at the weekend graduated 25 young women drawn from her constituency after a 5-day skills acquisition training on beads making and liquid soap production.
Rep Dukku, who represents Nafada/Dukku Federal Constituency of Gombe State, said the training was in fulfillment of her campaign promise on women empowerment.
The graduation ceremony, held in Abuja, saw the presence of speaker Yakubu Dogara alongside many other lawmakers, who pledged to offer personal financial assistance to the graduands to further their skills.
“What our sister has done today is not giving you fish but teaching you how to fish. This training is in the spirit of change agenda and this is the only way we can solve the crisis of our region,” Dogara said.
While thanking the speaker for his presence at the ceremony, Rep Dukku said she decided to bring the young girls to Abuja to improve their lives.
