Players of Lobi Stars have taken full responsibility for the barren draw with visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure which has left the club in even more danger on the 2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table.

On Sunday, Lobi Stars dominated proceedings against the ‘Akure Gunners’ who withstood everything that was thrown at them by their hosts who desperately needed victory to swim out of relegation waters.

After a series of misses, the height of frustration for Lobi Stars fans was when one of the most experienced players in the team, Raphael Ayagwa squandered a 53rd minute spot kick that could have earned them victory.

Consequently, the players in a statement released by their captain, Daniel Atsaka have begged for forgiveness as they promised to put smiles on the face of the government and people of Benue State, particularly the vice-chairman of the club, Dominic Iorfa.

“It’s sad about the result yesterday (Sunday) and previously. It’s indeed heartbreaking for you to know that despite all your efforts we haven’t given you the desired results.

“We have taken responsibility and we’ve met and resolved that we would do our best to turn the fortunes of the club around and bring back joy to you, our sponsor the Governor and the entire Lobi Stars fans”

“On behalf of the players, I reassure you that you’ll see a different outcome henceforth. Please continue to fight for us because after God, you’re our pillar. We plead that you relax your mind,” reads the letter of apology to Iorfa.
