According to the club’s CEO, Lukmon Ogungbefun, its a proud moment for the club while expressing hope that the players will give a good account of themselves.
“We are happy, we are glad we are there now. It’s an epic moment for us. We worked hard to get it and we got it. It’s a proud moment for us and we will do our best in the CAF Confederation’s Cup.” Climbing up the ladder, according to the administrator, is quite difficult, considering the ups and downs associated with the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL,” he said.
In the same vein, Kwara United wil battle AS Douanes of Niger Republic at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos State.
The return leg match will hold at the Général Seyni Kountché Stadium Stade Municipal de Niamey, Niger on September 18.
The winner, over the two legs, will play Moroccan side, Berkane, who are the current holders of the Confederation Cup title.
Erstwhile Super Eagles goalkeeper and Captain of Kwara United FC of Ilorin, Dele Aiyenugba, has described the mood in camp of his team as great ahead of the clash.
“We want to take every game step by step because we have two games on our hands right now (both home and away), before we talk of next team in Morocco and going to group stage.
“The management is doing a great job to see that the players are comfortable ahead of the match,” Aiyenugba said.
