With about five minutes to the end of the first half, Franck Mawuena was brought down for a penalty after meeting a through ball from Jide Fatokun.

Sikiru Alimi stepped up to take the penalty as he hit the top right-hand corner to make it 2-0.

In the 63rd minute, Alimi scored his brace after meeting a dropped ball by Sodiq Ismail as Remo Stars earned the first clean sheet of the season.

Meanwhile, resilient Kwara United came from behind to defeat Sporting Lagos 2-1 at the Kwara Stadium, Ilorin.

The visitors had the best start of the game as Jonathan Alukwu scored in the first minute to fire home his third goal of the season.

Stunned by the early goal, Kwara United mounted pressure but goalkeeper, Christian Nwoke came to the rescue of his side.

In the 45th minute, Nwoke was finally breached as the hosts through Ejeh Isaiah converted from the spot to see the first half end 1-1.

At the restart of the second half, both teams went for the deciding goal, creating goal-scoring chances.

In the 86th minute, Ifeanyi Odimmega scored the winner for the hosts who held to secure all three points.
