The Rivers State Police Command has said it recovered the remains of the slain DPO of Ahoada Police Division, SP Bako Angbashim, from the shrine of the late Gift Okpara.
Angbashim was murdered by a gang of cultists led by Okpara in the rural community of Ahoada. But the cultist was later killed in an operation led by the state police command.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, said in Port Harcourt yesterday that a coordinated joint operation carried out by tactical squads of the Rivers State Police Command and personnel of the Force Intelligence Bureau led to the recovery.
Koko said the operation led to the discovery of a burial site in the gang’s shrine where the remains of the slain police officer, SP Bako Angbashim, were found and subsequently exhumed.
“The recovered remains have been taken to the mortuary for scientific examination and genetic testing. These tests aim to establish the identity of the remains through a meticulous comparison with samples obtained from the deceased officer’s relatives,” she said.
Koko added that the remaining dismembered parts of SP Angbashim’s body, which are suspected to have been buried at various undisclosed locations in the forest would be rcovered.
