Relief for mother of triplets as LG boss pays monthly allowance

Relief has come the way of Mrs Gloria Audu, a mother of a newly born triplet now placed on a monthly allowance by Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, George Alli.

Mrs Audu before the gesture had difficulty in taking care of her triplet and husband who is said to be on a sickbed.

But, respite came for them when the council chairman, according to his Special Adviser, Media and Gender Affairs, Desmond Oogwu, picked interest in the young mother’s plight by placing her on a monthly stipend.

Alli, who also made a cash donation to the woman to help in meeting some of her financial obligations, said he was moved after hearing stories about the delivery of the triplet and the fact that their father is ill.

The council chairman, therefore, sent for the triplet’s mother to be brought to him from Aiya in Adoka district of Otukpo LGA.

The triplet’s mother upon her arrival at the council headquarters in Otukpo was received by the chairman who handed her an undisclosed sum of money while encouraging her to have faith in God.

He further told the woman to open a bank account so that she can be getting a monthly allowance paid directly into the account to take care of her family, encouraging her as well that God will never let her and the children be stranded in life.

“As a family man and father I know what it takes to raise a child. Then for a poor farming family to raise three at the same time they need to be encouraged and I believe no amount is too small or too big to assist them with,” Alli said.

The mother of the triplets, Gloria Audu, who was shocked by the gesture, thanked the council chairman for his kind gesture and prayed God to guide and protect him throughout his tenure.

Audu, however, appealed to other well-meaning Nigerians to come to her aid since according to her, her husband, Audu Omegida had been battling ill health for some time now.
