The former Gombe State Football Association chairman, who gave the charge in a chat with reporters in Abuja, noted that it is the right of Nigerians to know what is happening to the lost money.

He warned that Nigerians should not be carried away by the ongoing preparations for the hosting of the FIFA U-17 World Cup and the qualifiers for the South Africa 2010 World Cup, saying if the National Sports Commission fails to thrash out the matter now, the possibility of another money missing as we prepare for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup is high.

“It appears the attention of the country is divided because of the many things that are happening in the sports scene now, but I will continue to hammer on the issue of the $236, 000 that got missing in the NFF secretariat.

Ï want the Minister of Sports, Engineer Sani Ndanusa to tell Nigerians what is happening to the money, because they deserve to know, we should not be carried away by the preparations for the FIFA U-17 World Cup and the Super Eagles qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup because if care is not taken another money will get missing in the course of our preparation for the World Cup”, Gara noted.

Aside from that, Gara Gombe said the ability of the minister to recover the missing funds and fish out the perpetrators of the crime would convince Nigerians about the sincerity of commission to eliminate fraud in the nation’s sports sector.

According to him, there is no time for the country to continue to wait for the judicial process that would take more than five years to determine those involved in the crime.

“We (Nigerians) don’t have the patience to wait for the outcome of the court case, we are in the injury time of the case and Nigerians want to know what is happening to the missing money now”, Gara Gombe stated.
