Relatives of a 14-year-old girl, who was remanded in prison following a complaint by her stepmother, have appealed for the intervention of the Adamawa State government.
Daily Trust Saturday gathered that Zainab Aliyu, who resides in Linde community in Girei Local Government Area, has been sent to prison by her stepmother, Halima, due to a dispute with her on March 26, 2024, where it was alleged she got some people to beat the girl and filed a case against her.
Sources also alleged that on March 26, she sought a court order at the Vinikilang Magistrate Court, and the judge remanded Zainab at the Yolde Pate Correctional Centre in Yola South LGA on Thursday, March 28.
Zainab’s maternal relatives reported that she broke her fast at the correctional centre on Thursday.

One of the relatives, said, “Today is a public holiday and the weekend is coming, which means there won’t be any work. We are calling on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to intervene urgently in this injustice because Zainab is not yet 18 years old.”
This incident has sparked outrage among the locals, who are calling for justice to be served and for Zainab to be released from prison.
