Regulating school fees in Kano private schools

As a parent, I welcome the idea of careful regulation of private schools in Kano. During the administration of Rabiu Kwankwaso, there was an attempt to regulate private  schools and ensure they are complementing government’s efforts towards imparting knowledge to Kano State children not a way of getting rich quickly as it’s presently.

There are many nasty things some of the school proprietors do to ensure they milk parents dry in almost all the schools.

I have not seen the reason why parents will pay school fees and as well pay for extra lesson in the same school and same class.

Also, parents must buy school uniforms, sportswears, cardigans from the school at very expensive prices. Private schools do fix their school fees without any consideration and can increase the price without notice. Government needs to come in for the purpose of mediation between parents and the proprietors to ensure no party is taking more advantage on the other. Government on its own side can reduce the tax they are collecting from the schools by two-third to give room for reduction of school fees and other charges by the schools. This’ll go along way to sanitise the operation of private schools in Kano.
