Admission into the only state polytechnic has this session generated disappointments amongst applicants when the school admitted only 3200 out of over 5000 students who applied for admission into the institution.

Speaking to Sunday Trust in his office, Dr Kabir Matazu said the NBTE had directed the school to admit into the sciences, seventy percent of their applicants whereas most of the applicants had applied for the less spacious courses in arts and management studies.

He said, the rational was to produce a more scientific and technically oriented generation that could brace up for global challenges provided by advances in science and technologically developed societies.

The rector then urged the state government to consider converting the Yusuf Bala Usman College of Legal and General studies, Daura into the college of administration and management studies to cater for the management and administrative needs of the state.

Dr Matazu however, assured of the school ‘s resolve to introduce more management courses come 2012 after the implementation of the ten- year rolling plan ending 2010 to create more access, noting also that all the seven courses to be introduced this year were science based.
