The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that the party was more interested in reconciling its members rather than sanctioning them.
Recall that many members of the party, including state governors had allegedly indulged in anti-party activities during the last general elections, a development that had polarized the party and created more divisions within its ranks leading to their defeat in the presidential elections.
But speaking with Daily Trust, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba said the party has its rules and process, adding that the party hierarchy wants to concentrate on reconciling its members instead of slamming them with sanctions.
Ologunagba added that because the party leadership is committed to reconciliation does not mean that it cannot take disciplinary actions on erring members if the need arises and it becomes necessary.

The PDP spokesman said, “We said as a party of rules and process there are procedures for that (sanctions) and what we are concentrating on is on reconciliation and that is what the NWC wants to emphasize more.
He also said no one was exempted from the reconciliation process, when asked if this includes the former Rivers State Governor and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
“We said reconciliation, can you put a road block on reconciliation or put a wall on reconciliation, because there is no barrier for reconciliation, it is just reconciliation. So reconciliation is a process, a marathon, it is not a 100-meter dash and if we say we are reconciling why do you put preconditions and ask me if it involves this person or not. I am not speaking for former Governor Wike. “We are very positive and we believe in the capacity of our members to come together and we believe in our ability within our own system,” Ologunagba said.
