Reckless Driving: Kwara varsity bans students’ use of vehicles on campus

The Kwara State University, Malete has banned the use of vehicles on campus by students. Speaking with our reporter on the issue on Thursday via the telephone, the university’s Director of University Relations, Dr Abdulrazaq Sanni, said it was a management decision.
He said the ban would take effect from 14th February 2022. According to him, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mohammed Akanbi approved the ban to safeguard the lives of students and staff from reckless driving on campus by the students.
“Our roads have become a racecourse where students drive at nerve breaking speed thus constituting a nuisance on our campus.
“The management has resolved to institute sanity and orderliness within the university community and most especially save the lives of students from recurring ghastly motor accidents.
“This will as well also discourage the use of vehicles as a tool of oppression among students”, he added.
