Recession: Ona of Abaji decries high wedding costs

The Ona of Abaji and Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has expressed concern over high wedding charges from bride parents in his chiefdom.

Alhaji  Yunusa, while speaking at his palace during a meeting with some stakeholders and traditional title holders of the area, said it was worrisome that despite the economic hardship in the country, some brides’ parents still charged grooms-to-be a lot of expenses for wedding.

He said the demand for high wedding charges by parents of brides has been discouraging some men from seeking for hand of their daughters for marriage. He called on parents and clerics to as a matter urgency look into the matter.
