The large turnout of people that welcomed President Muhammadu Buhari during his recent visit to some states is an indication of his increasing popularity ahead of next year’s presidential election, Coordinator of the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) in Katsina State, Ibrahim Musa Kallah, has said.

Musa Kalla, yesterday, said the large turnout of people that received the president during his visits to Bauchi, Jigawa, Kano, Nasarawa Cross River and Katsina states showed that his support base had reached a level above that of the pre-2015 polls.

Kallah, who is also the spokesman of the Katsina State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, said, “People from all over the country are interested in identifying with the laudable programmes of President Buhari. That is why you hear people asking the president to visit their states because people are visibly happy with him wherever he goes.”

He said this was an indication that the president would garner “higher number of votes than what he scored in 2015.”
