Your analysis of the root causes and preventive measures of violent extremism in the Daily Trust Newspaper of Thursday 12th December, 2019, was superb, and has accurately captured what the theoretical postulations of the United Nations and the World over assumed to be the solutions to violent extremism and ethnic and religious intolerant crisis. The Xianjiang experience and the steps taken by the People’s Republic of China to stem the menace of violent terrorism through preventive and de-radicalisation measures which have yielded positive results cannot be discounted, and must be applauded.

China’s readiness to share successful experience with other countries (Nigeria, inclusive) in order to contribute to the international counter-terrorism cooperation through strengthening exchanges and cooperation in counter-terrorism and de-radicalisation can best be situated in consideration of the historical, political, social, cultural and religious evolution of Nigeria, which has failed to provide the cohesion among its variant nationalities. Chinese Government can do more than just share its experience with the Nigerian government and its people.

The People’s Republic of China can demonstrate a concerted effort of identifying the critical knowledge and skill gap of youths in schools and out of school (particularly the ALMAJIRAI) who are most vulnerable to indoctrination into violent extremism, terrorism and radicalisation, and employ resources both human and capital to bridge the gap.
