I write in response to the story with the above title published in the Daily Trust on Saturday of July 3, 2021.
I wish to, in particular, address those who are deliberately mocking the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, for withdrawing his son from public school because bandits are targeting him.
- 2023 presidency: Southern governors shut out Atiku, Kwankwaso, Tambuwal, others
- Students kidnap threatening enrollment in the North — Buhari
We have to be fair to the governor, because his son’s continuing stay at the school may jeopardise the safety of other pupils since they will be under constant threat of kidnappers attack.
As one analyst suggested, there would be two dangerous issues to contend with: deploying state resources to protect the governor’s son while at school and his presence putting other students at risk of being kidnapped.
I will advise that we shouldn’t always politicise issues. We have to be fair and just in judging our fellow human beings, especially our leaders.
