Rarara’s mother regains freedom after 20 days in captivity

Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, mother of the famous Hausa singer, Dauda Adamu, popularly known as Rarara, has been released by bandits.

The aged woman was released after she spent 20 days in captivity, according to a source close to the family.

The source said after her release, the singer’s mother was taken to a hospital in Abuja where she is currently receiving medical attention.

The source said her health condition deteriorated as she was suffering high blood pressure when she was abducted and that her health condition worsened while in captivity.

Jubilation broke in Kahutu village, hometown of the singer in Danja local government area of Katsina State, when the news of her release broke.

Daily Trust reports that the armed men who abducted her broke into Kahutu about three weeks ago.

Some of the residents, who spoke to Daily Trust on phone, expressed their happiness over her release.

Habib Isyaka said, “I am so happy today that Mama has finally regained her freedom. I am happy our mother has returned to us.

“Though I haven’t seen her yet, you cannot imagine my feelings. Honestly, today I am happy.”

Another resident, Ibrahim Bello Na Kahutu, said: “I cannot express my feelings today. I am praying for her quick recovery because I learnt she is seriously ill.

“I want use this opportunity to congratulate my brother Rarara over the release of Mama. We, the people of Kahutu village are happy with this development.”

The bandits had initially demanded N1 billion ransom.
