Rape: NAPTIP urges strict enforcement of VAPP Act

Director-General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Fatima Waziri-Azi, has called for strict enforcement of the provisions of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act 2015 in lieu of the hideous cases of rape across Nigeria.

She made the call in Kaduna at the inauguration of the Kaduna State Task Force on Human Trafficking held at the Government House, Kaduna.

She said state task forces on human trafficking was one of the counter-trafficking initiatives of NAPTIP to enhance stakeholders’ participation in the prevention and awareness creation to eradicate human trafficking across Nigeria.

“As at the last count, the agency has set up task forces in 19 states with the Kaduna State bringing the total number to 20,” she said.
