Rano emir asks Gov Yusuf to revoke 5km road project

The Emir of Rano, Muhammadu Isa Umaru, has appealed to Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State to revoke the 5km road project in the area and reassign it to another contractor for speedy execution.

The emir said the current contractor handling the project cannot execute the project, hence the need to reassign it to another contractor.

Umaru made the appeal during his coronation and presentation of the staff of office.

The second-class emir also appealed to the governor on the need to find a lasting solution to the age-long water scarcity being faced in the area, which he said past governments failed to address.

“The 5km road is very crucial to the people of Rano but unfortunately the contractor handling the project cannot handle the project.

“We are also faced with a water scarcity issue and past governments have made efforts to address it by tapping water from Tiga. But there is a nearby mountain that can provide and supply Rano and environs with the necessary water supply,” the emir stated.

Speaking while presenting the staff of office, the governor said the Emir was selected based on merit and urged him to bring to bear his wealth of experience towards the development of the area and state as a whole.
