Table toppers Enugu Rangers started the final stretch of the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, with 3-0 drubbing of visiting Bayelsa United in yesterday’s MatchDay 33 to tighten their grip on the top spot with 60 points.

Rangers leading goalscorer Godwin Obaje put ‘the Flying Antelopes’  in front in the 41st minute, the striker bagged his brace and Rangers’ second goal in the 66th minute before Chiedozie Okorie sealed victory with the third in the 68th minute of the one sided affair.

In Umuahia, title holders Enyimba left it late to beat Abia Warriors 1-0 when Benard Ovoke struck in the 72nd minute for the ‘Peoples Elephants’ to earn the bragging rights in the Southeast Derby.

At the Muhmmadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United fought back to force visiting 3SC to a 2-2 draw. Moses Effiong put the ‘Chanji boys’ ahead in the 16th minute but Daddy Abdulrahman levelled scores for his side in the 31st minute for the half to end on equal terms.

On resumption, Adam Mustapha put the visitors in front in the 65th minute but Michael Ibe popped up with the vital equaliser in the sixth minute of the second half added minutes.

The biggest win of the week came from Port-harcourt where former Kano Pillars man, Nyima Nwagua hit a brace as Rivers United trounced Sporting Lagos 4-1.

Elsewhere, Kano Pillars returned to winning ways under interim coach Ahmed Garba ‘Yaro Yaro’ with an emphatic 3-0 victory over struggling Doma United at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kwara United survived a late rally by Remo Stars to win 3-2 in Ilorin while former table toppers, Lobi Stars suffered a 1-2 loss to Akwa United at Lafia Township Stadium.

In Jos, Tornadoes forced Plateau United to a 0-0 in Jos while relegation-threatened Sunshine Stars shared the spoils with Bendel Insurance in Akure.
