Rangers will remain on top of the Nigeria league table after they came from behind to beat regional rivals Enyimba 2-1 yesterday.
‘The Flying Antelopes’ have now garnered 17 points from nine matches.
Against the run of play, Joseph Osadiaye put visiting Enyimba ahead after 14 minutes with a curling effort from 20 yards, before Godwin Aguda drew Rangers level seven minutes later.
Chisom Egbuchulam then put Rangers ahead in the 39th minute with an assist from Bobby Clement.
However, on the dot of full time Clement was sent off after a second booking.
It was a physical combat in the second half as champions Enyimba chased the game, but could not translate their dominance into goals.
Also yesterday, El-Kanemi thrashed Nasarawa United 3-0 while Kano Pillars stopped FC IfeanyiUbah 2-0 in their Week 9 matches.
El-Kanemi moved clear of the drop zone on the back of the big home win.
El-Kanemi have a late rally to thank for their convincing win after goals by Ohanachom in the 90th minute and Daniel Japhet three minutes earlier.
Yakubu Auta had put El-Kanemi in front after 11 minutes from the penalty spot after Samson Gbadebo handled the ball inside his box.
In Kano, Prince Aggreh netted his fourth goal of the season in the 28th minute as hosts Pillars beat IfeanyiUbah 2-0.
Aggreh buried a superb cross by Mohamed Shagari to make hay.
Shagari was again the provider when his corner was finished off by Suleiman Usman.
In Lagos, newly promoted Ikorodu United lost 2-3 to Rivers United at home, Onikan stadium, courtesy of early goal in the 7th minute scored by Rivers’ Kuemian Guy before the host leveled it in the 14th minute.
The visitors scored two more goals through striker Nonso Okonkwo before Ikorodu United’s Ifeagwu Ojukwu reduced the tally through a powerful header in the 76 minute to bring the final scores at 2-3, in favor of River United.
