  • LMC fines Pillars N2.5m

Enugu Rangers have picked their sixth win of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League following a 1-0 victory over Gombe United in Nnewi.

It was a tight contest in the first 45 minutes as both sides failed to take their chances to open the scoring.

However, that changed in the second half as Chidiebere Nwobodo made the best use of a pass from Chukwuebuka Okorie to give Rangers the lead in the 49th minute.

The Flying Antelopes held on to the lead to inflict a fifth league loss on the visitors.

In the other game played, Heartland FC also defeated visiting Niger Tornadoes by a lone goal scored in the 11th minute by Jonas Emmanuel.

Tornadoes who are fighting not to drop into the relegation zone began the game threatening the host but a resolute Heartland were alert to avoid dropping further in the same relegation zone.

Despite their efforts in the early minutes of the game, the visitors fell to an early goal and tried to get back into the game but were unlucky with the game ending 1-0.

Meanwhile, the League Management Company (LMC) have requested to review the performance of the match commissioner, Haruna Garba for the Kano Pillars vs Rivers Utd over failure to enforce the proactive closed-door directive.

The LMC has also charged Kano Pillars for failure to provide adequate security during the game and were fined ₦2.5m while directing Pillars to henceforth play their home matches at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
