She said a whistleblower reported the incident to FIDA.
According to her, the suspect has been arrested, and reiterated her personal commitment to follow up the case to ensure that he is prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
She explained that, “On receipt of the information from the whistleblower, FIDA, in conjunction with the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response team of the police, facilitated and mobilised to get the suspect arrested.
“Our team, with the police, took the victim to the hospital and paid for her treatment, but unfortunately she lost the six-month-old baby.”
She added that, “The state’s Ministry of Justice further paid the bill for a DNA test as part of the ongoing investigation to ascertain the real culprit.”
Mrs Addra, further said, “Our team is always ready and prepared to promote, protect and serve the rights of women and children.
“So we are appealing to victims of abuse to always have the confidence to speak out so that we can render the necessary support to them.”
As of the time of filing this report, effort to reach the police spokesman in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, to react on the issue failed as he was neither responding to phone calls nor replied to an SMS.
