This failure is reflected in lack of infrastructure, corruption, waste, pursuit of vanity and general lack of values. Perhaps, unknown to all those who claim to be leaders at this time and are issuing puerile ultimatums to the police to rescue the harmless journalists, kidnapping has assumed the dimension of a pseudo-class war. Of course, no right thinking person would justify the illegal act.
However, the truth is that it appears some of our compatriots who have been dehumanised by the recklessness of those called leaders at executive, legislative and judicial departments of government are having their own back, so to say, at an iniquitous system.
In a country where legislators can award themselves fabulous allowances and Governors and their so-called aides can help themselves to billions of dollars while the security and welfare of the people are neglected, we had better understand that we are right in a war front.
It is the kind of war that cannot be won deploying troops or armaments. We can only win the war if we hold accountable those who make governing and governance a criminal enterprise.
Certainly, the police should do its duty and ensure that no harm happens to the journalists who are not personally responsible for our present state of anomie.
By all means, fish out the animals behind this dastardly crime! But by all means, let us smoke out the other animals creating the conditions for kidnappings and other crimes!! This is not a case of speaking carelessly about revolution.
The truth of the matter is that we have no choice any longer. Nigeria cannot continue in the hands of people who think that the collective wealth of this country is theirs to loot.
If the kidnapped journalists come to any harm, we will lead the movement for the smoking out of these irritants who parade their vanity and call themselves leaders. The state may not have failed yet, but there is doubtless failure of leadership.
