The Yobe State Government has said 16,800 vulnerable and less privileged Muslims will benefit from its daily iftar (feeding) programme in the holy month of Ramadan.
The state’s Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Ethical Re-orientation, Alhaji Yusuf Umar, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Damaturu during the distribution of food items to food vendors and contractors.
The commissioner said the Ramadan feeding programme will gulp over N100 million.
He said food items and other ingredients had been distributed to food vendors and contractors.

He also disclosed that the state government has expanded the feeding centres from 67 to 84 and each centre is expected to feed at least 200 people daily.
Umar said the state government would closely monitor all their activities to make sure the right thing is done.
He urged the food vendors and contractors to show compassion, and be honest and selfless in the distribution of food.
