Ramadan: NGO shares palliatives to 750 less privileged Kano residents

A nongovernmental organisation, NUSAID Humanitarian Initiative in collaboration with Kano Ulama Forum on Sunday distributed food items and money to about 750 beneficiaries in Kano.

The intervention was given to the beneficiaries, including women, vulnerable people and orphans as part of the NGO’s sustained annual Ramadan package during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

According to the Organising Secretary of the Initiative and university don, Dr Sa’idu Ahmad Dukawa, the intervention is to make life easy for the needy in the state, especially in Ramadan.

He said, “The initiative has been rendering support every Ramadan and whenever there is any need such as during last year’s flood in parts of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states among other things.

“We targeted 750 and Alhamdullillah, we have succeeded in reaching out to them. The package is mainly food items; rice spaghetti, seasoning, cooking oil, dates, salt, sugar and some money as transport money to the needy.

“Some of these beneficiaries are so weak that they don’t even have the transport money to come here. Our object is to make life easy for people in this month of Ramadan in our Society,” Dr Dukawa added.

Beneficiaries who spoke to Daily Trust expressed their delight for the gesture especially in the holy month and enjoined like NGOs to emulate.
