The member representing the Kano Municipal constituency in the House of Representatives, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, over the weekend empowered over 10,000 of his constituents.
The intervention, according to him, is part of his annual Ramadan gift not only to his constituents but also to other underprivileged people across the 44 local government areas of Kano state.
Sharada said, “This empowerment is in 16 categories, and in each ward, 116 people will benefit from it. We also expanded it to other 44 Local Government areas of the state.
He said, “We are also distributing the sum of N5,000  to 1,000 tricycle riders in Kano state, irrespective of their constituency. We have also trained and empowered many youths in solar and CCTV camera installations, and will soon settle some of them in shops.”
Speaking earlier, one of the lawmaker’s personal aides, Faruk Malami Sharada, said the annual distribution is part of his Ramadan gifts to his constituents, to help them cushion poverty.
He said, “Today, we are distributing 300 motorcycles, 300 grinding machines, 80 cars, 600 bicycles as well as N5,000 capital to 800 women.
“There are also 1,000 tricycle riders who will get N5,000 each. So, in all, about 10,000 will benefit from the empowerment, mostly women and youths.”
Beneficiaries who spoke to Daily Trust expressed their satisfaction with the intervention and promised to make good use of it.
In another development, the lawmaker received residents of Kafin Agur community in Madobi Local Government of the state who came to show their appreciation for helping them to secure their farmlands from being trespassed by the state government.
