Ramadan: Commission receives cows, cash for insurgency victims

The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission said it has received cows and cash meant for the children who were orphaned by insurgency in the North East among others.

Executive chairman of the Commission, Malam Lawal Maidoki, disclosed this while receiving some cows given as Zakkat by Toro-Jarma Diary farm on Friday.

He said the cows would be donated to over 200 children brought to Sokoto from the North East.

“We have been receiving Zakkat in cash, grains and animals and we will distribute them to the needy before the end of this holy month of Ramadan,” he said.

He, however, called on other wealthy Nigerians to imbibe the culture of giving Zakkat and endowment as it increases wealth.

“Giving Zakkat and endowment also forestall calamity aside from the multiple rewards from our creator,” he said.
