An Islamic cleric and the founder of Al’misriy Da’wah Foundation of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdulkabir Ibrahim Al’misriy, has urged traders not to hike the price of foodstuffs during the Ramadan fast.
He appealed while speaking as the guest speaker at the inauguration of the Doka Group of the Nasrul-Lahi-I-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), Kaduna Group 1, and Pre-Ramadan lecture titled, ‘What if this is my last Ramadan’.
He however lamented that it was worrisome how traders deliberately increase prices of their goods such as grains, fruit, beverages, and other condiments during Ramadan when the reverse should be the case.
He then charged Muslim traders to, in the spirit of the holy month, reduce the prices of their goods to reap the full benefits of Ramadan, saying, “this sacred period is a time to seek God’s face through fasting and good deeds.”
The Chairman, Kaduna Main Branch NASFAT, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Ajao, said NASFAT has created more than 340 branches in Nigeria and abroad including the USA, Canada, UK, and other African countries.
