No fewer than 200 houses, classrooms and a clinic were on Monday evening destroyed in Miango District in Bassa LGA of Plateau State following a rainstorm.
Narrating the incident, spokesman of Miango Youth Development Association, Nuhu Bitrus Nga, said three persons were injured in the incident and were in the hospital.
He said, “The rainstorm blew off roofs of an estimated 200 houses, a clinic, classrooms, shops, livestock pens and uprooted trees; leaving many people stranded while counting their losses of valuables such as documents, business inventories, cement, knitting machines and many more.
“Some affected persons are taking refuge in neighbours’ houses.”
He added that, “The damage caused by the rainstorm further put the Miango people who have over the years suffered violent attacks and displacement in a more precarious situation.”

He, therefore, called on the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the local authorities, NGOs and other well-meaning individuals to come to the aid of the affected persons.
