The Operation Controller, Benin Field office, Engr. Ebi Ogionwo, has said that he was quoted out of context in the interview granted during the stakeholder annual general meeting with petroleum and gas marketer in Edo state.
Ebi said this in a statement on Wednesday in reaction to a report that Federal government was considering transporting petroleum products through rail.
“This is to inform the reading public that the Operations Controller, DPR Benin, Engr. Ebi Ogionwo was quoted out of context when he was quoted to have said ‘FG is considering the use of rail in the transportation of petroleum products’.
In answer to a question, he only mentioned that “the FG at a point in time considered the use of rail in transporting petroleum products” in a bid to solve the difficulty faced in distributing the products.
The statement said the main purpose of the AGM is to bring together industry stakeholders in the downstream sector in Edo state to emphasize the need for compliance to oil & gas laws, regulations and guidelines as well as ensuring they operate safely.
“As a responsible thoroughbred professional, it is not our intention to cause any media misinformation,” the statement said.
