Rafindadi is HOD Economics, ABU Zaria

The Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Ibrahim Garba, has approved the appointment of Dr Aliyu Sanusi Rafindadi as Head, Department of Economics. 

Dr Rafindadi succeeded Dr Salamatu I. Isah whose tenure expired on May 9, 2018. She served for four years as Head of Economics Department, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

A letter dated May 14, 2018 conveying the appointment and made available to Daily Trust followed recommendation of the Dean of Social Sciences, Professor P P Izah, after his emergence as a consensus candidate at a consultation held on May 8, 2018 to select a new head for the Department of Economics. 

The appointment, according to the letter, was in the belief that Dr Rafindadi would “promote the goals and objectives of the Department and the University.” 

Born in Katsina on November 19, 1970, Rafindadi is currently the Director of International Centre of Excellence for Rural Finance and Entrepreneurship, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. 

Rafindadi studied at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he got his BSc and MSc degrees all in economics. He later left Nigeria for the United Kingdom where he got another Masters Degree in International Business and a PhD in economics at the prestigious Lancaster University Management School.

Dr Rafindadi, who is an Associate Professor of Economics, teaches in the institution’s Department of Economics; and his area of research interest is applied econometrics with applications to monetary economics, international economics and macroeconomics. 

He had briefly taught economics at Lancaster University, UK, and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, Katsina, in addition to attending several local and international conferences and workshops.
