The poster-boy of Nigerian table tennis, Aruna Quadri, has been described as a mentor and inspiration to many young players due to his exploits at the global level.
Recently the African champion made history as the only African player to reach the quarter final of the World Table Tennis, WTT tournament held in Singapore.
The organiser of Reis Table Tennis Tournament, Engineer Christopher Olaseni Reis, while addressing the press on the second edition of the championship said Quadri has been helping in developing young table tennis players.
He also said the second edition of the tournament billed to hold in May will feature over 400 tennis players as he disclosed that the aim is to produce youngsters that will represent Nigeria in the next five years.
“Aruna acted as a mentor to the players who participated in the first edition and trained them for free.”
“Our vision is to have players that will represent Nigeria in the next five years and we are going to open a Trust Fund for Reis table tennis. The long term objective of this project is to develop talent and mould them into future stars,” he said.
