Foremost consumer goods company, PZ Cussons Nigeria PLC yesterday solicited the support of the Federal Government to improve the ease of doing business in the country, saying, “The ease of doing business is not getting better.”

The 130-year-old Nigerian manufacturing giant said clearing of goods at the Nigerian ports, poor and very weak infrastructures, rising foreign exchange, among others were some of the challenges confronting the firm and other manufacturing concerns in Nigeria. The firm listed the challenges yesterday when it hosted the management of Media Trust Limited led by the Chairman, Malam. Kabiru Yusuf during a visit to its headquarters in Ilupeju, Lagos.

The Media Trust team was received by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PZ Cussons Nigeria PLC, Mr. Panagiotis Katsis and other Senior officials of the firm.

The Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director of the firm, Engr. Dom Ezeokana in a presentation said the manufacturing giant in the last 130 years had continued to serve Nigeria and make the lives of Nigerians better.

He disclosed that 60 per cent of the inputs of PZ Cussons were now sourced locally, saying the feat was largely due to the increase in local supplies of packages of palm oil used for their soap products.

Chairman of Media Trust Limited, Mall. Kabir Yusuf said there was the need for the federal government to improve the ease of doing business to protect manufacturers.

He lauded the company for remaining in the market for over 120 years despite the challenges in the market.

The Chairman was accompanied by the Executive Director, Business and Strategy, Mall. Ibrahim Shekarau, General Manager/CEO of Trust TV, Ibrahim Shehu Adam and General Manager, Southern Operations, Daily Trust, Mr. Ademola Oladosu.
