Russian President Vladimir Putin is waiting for official results of the US presidential election to congratulate the winner, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

According to Peskov, Russia deems it fit to wait for the official announcement, as Putin has demonstrated that he would respect the choice of Americans.
“We consider it correct to wait for the official results to be finalised,” Peskov said.
“I want to remind you that President Putin repeatedly said he will respect the choice of the American people.”
He added that the president had repeatedly said he was ready to work with any US leader, as Russia hopes it could establish dialogue with the new US administration to find a way to normalise relations.
Biden has amassed 290 Electoral College Votes past the 270 needed to clinch the exalted seat at the White House.
Since the projection of Biden’s victory in the just concluded US election on Saturday, leaders across the globe have been reacting to the development and congratulating Mr Biden.
