Put your best foot forward, Tinubu charges African youth

President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has asked the African youths to reject the negative stereotypes and false narratives that have been perpetuated about the continent.

“When on social media, put your best foot forward. Do not allow peer pressure to push you into spreading the myth that nothing good can happen in Africa,” he said.

He also said African youths were rewriting the continent’s history in a positive way while commending them for making their impact felt.

He spoke through the APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, at the Commonwealth Youth and Students’ Summit held in Abuja.

Tinubu, according to a statement by Israel, noted that Africa owed the youths a lot of gratitude for presenting the continent in good light.

He said in the past, the media had been focusing on negative things about Africa, creating the impression that there were no positive things coming from Africa.

Tinubu charged the youth to actualise their potential and collectively work as a team to create a safe and secure environment while advising the youth to shun violence.

“We must work together to create safe and secure environments for ourselves and our communities. We must reject violence and extremism and promote peace and harmony. We must also work to create a united front against external threats and challenges.

“Unity is crucial for Africa’s success. We must work together to promote cooperation, collaboration, and solidarity. We must break down the barriers that divide us and build bridges of understanding and trust,” he said.
